Next up is Amandla Baraka. Young Hero’s own Julia Khoroshilov had a conversation with the artist background.
Selected Organization: Fair Fight

Tell us a little bit about yourself: where you're from / you & your family's background.
My name is Amandla Baraka and I am a self-taught Director and Photographer raised in Montclair, NJ with strong roots in Newark, New Jersey.
Can you elaborate on the photographs you took? The story behind them / when and where they were taken?
These photos were taken at two different protests to get justice for George Floyd and Breonna Taylor in Brooklyn.
Personally, what do these two photographs symbolize to you?
These photos symbolize hope and freedom. While I was shooting these protests I was looking for moments to be proud of. I was looking for stories I could tell my kids about how proud I am to be black.
What does the organization you chose mean to you and why that specific one? Why do you feel others should be aware of it & supporting it as well?
I chose ‘Fair Fight’ because I have seen first hand how difficult it can be for marginalized people to have their voices heard. I want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to vote for their own interests and not be held back by unfair voting laws, redlining, and whatever other tactics people in power use to keep the voices of the masses muffled
